Root canal therapy, or endodontics, seeks to save a natural tooth from having to be extracted when an infection has affected a tooth down to its root.
If plaque is left on a tooth from neglecting daily brushing and flossing, it can breed bacteria. This can eat away at a tooth or get through a cracked tooth or unfilled cavities, reaching the root.
A tooth canal can clean out the infection with a specialized tool. A filling or crown is then placed to seal the tooth and restore it back to its full health.
What Happens at an Appointment
